The Drax Files: World Makers [Episode 48: CNDG]

Question: what if we’d tell you that in 2018 thousands of American university students traveled to the Second Life grid to learn more about environmental science, chemistry, biology and economics?
We at The Drax Files World Makers [Higher Ed Edition] believe you probably did not know of the scale of educational activity in our digital universe.
And we admit it openly: we were similarly unaware...
Unbeknownst to the public at large and under the radar of even the most news-addicted avatar in Second Life, the Chant Newall Development Group, LLC (CNDG) has been delivering highly interactive courses for both STEM and other subjects in conjunction with major universities in Florida and elsewhere for over a decade.
The globally dispersed team of CNDG works closely with faculty on the ground in Florida and their distributor Pearson education to create the text book of the future using their unique virtual world learning approach.
Learning objectives are defined and then finely focused, as their modules take advantage of Second Life’s highly flexible world-building engine, the gigantic SL marketplace for 3D goods and services, and the social networking features which let faculty, students and teaching assistants engage in virtual learning communities that - as CNDG founder William Prensky puts it - “move human knowledge forward”.
Enjoy a showcase of virtual world learning that works and energizes, is inclusive, and that can help turn young learners into curious and dedicated scientists.
